Michelle Obama Reveals the Secret to Her Successful Marriage — And It Wasn't What We Expected

Oddly, it's Howard Stern's advice for a happy marriage, too.

Michelle and Barack Obama have always been #couplegoals, and now the former first lady is revealing one of the main reasons why their love has remained so strong

She is currently in New York promoting her new book, Becoming, and made an appearance on NBC's Today show to talk about it — oh, and also to launch a program to boost educational opportunities for girls around the world. Isn't she the greatest? Yes. Yes, she is. (Miss you, Michelle!)

But she's made it clear she's not coming back to the White House. When asked if she would ever run for president, Michelle said, "Absolutely not."

"I have never wanted to be a politician. I want to serve, I want to be out there. There's so many ways to make an impact. Politics just isn't my thing," she added.

But enough about that.

These two special lovebugs, married for 26 years, are still so in love. Look. Look at the love. Isn't it nice?

Presumably, they even shared the same bed in the White House! (Unlike Donald and Melania Trump, who, according to some reports, may not even live there together, let alone share sheets.)

When asked what makes her marriage work, Michelle's answer was amazing. Not therapy, not time apart, not supporting each other, not their daughters... no, she had a specific idea in mind.

So what was it?

"One of the keys to a successful marriage is separate bathrooms," Michelle said.

You know who else advises couples to always have separate bathrooms (if they can)? Howard Stern. Two brilliant people can't be wrong.

As for our current political climate (which could drive you to the bathroom for any number of reasons), Michelle says to hang in there.

"Fear is not a proper motivator. Hope wins out,'"she said. 'If you think about how you want your kids to be raised... do you want them afraid of their neighbors? Do you want them angry, do you want them vengeful?"

"We think of values we want to promote to your children. Which motto do you want them to live by?" she concluded.

I guess that would be togetherness as a nation ... and also separate bathrooms for all couples.
